The armadillo also known as the nine-banded armadillo is very adaptable to urban landscapes their diet consists of primarily insects and worms at or below the surface. They rarely consume carrion (dead animal flesh) or eggs of ground nesting animals.
Although they eat adult insects and larvae which would prove to be beneficial, their feeding behavior have been known to cause problems for property owners and managers, as they are looking for insects in the soil, they dig holes in gardens, flower beds and lawns. They also excavate several burrows that are used for travel within their territories. They usually rest in deep shady cover during the day in a deep burrow and are more active at night or early morning.
